ETIAS - European Travel Information and Authorisation System
ETIAS is the European Union's travel authorisation system for citizens of visa-exempt countries who wish to visit the Schengen Area. The system is not yet operational, and the European Union has not confirmed a definitive launch date. Check the official EU website for the latest information.
Who will need it: Once in force, it will apply to citizens of visa-exempt countries (including Brazil, the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and others) for stays of up to 90 days.

The UK ETA is the United Kingdom's electronic travel authorisation, already in force, for citizens of countries who do not need a visa. It became a requirement for eligible non-European nationals from 8 January 2025, and for eligible European nationals from 2 April 2025.
Who needs it: Citizens of visa-exempt countries (including Brazil, Gulf countries, Malaysia and others) for visits of up to 6 months.
